Several GDW riders took part in the annual SPAM Winter Challenge on Salisbury Plain at the weekend.  There were three distances to choose from, 50, 35 and 25 kms on a mix of muddy fields, tracks and MOD roads which were specially opened for the day.  On the day, there was a cold and very strong wind which made the middle section hard, especially so when some heavy rain set in for a while.

Nigel Brown set the 10th quickest 50k ride in 2 hours 5 minutes, Vince Hounsome lost time with a puncture around halfway but finished in 2.32.  Henry Harris was close behind Vince in 2.33 while Charles Rees got round in 2.43.  Charles also rode to and from the event in an effort to log some extra miles for the Rapha/Strava Festive 500 challenge.
James Chant was 19th in the 35k distance in 1.50, Pete Dyer completed the route in 2.12 and Rob Gale in 2.26.
