Some tough, windy conditions greeted the riders who competed in Yeovil CC’s 25 mile time trial on Sunday morning and the five Wheelers who took part were all slower than they would normally have been.  Vince Hounsome was the fastest of them, finishing in 15th place and just missing out on going under the hour by only two seconds with 1.00.01.  Next up was SImon Rouse (in Severn RC colours) with 1.02.42 (22nd), Richard Hansford – riding in his first Open for a few seasons – finished in 1.04.45 (27th), Don Tanner was 31st in 1.06.48 and Chris Mullett 37th in 1.11.56.

Charles Rees continued his fine 2009 form at the blustery Las Vegas Institute of Sport 10 mile tt near Cirencester.  Charles started the year with a PB of 24.15 for this distance but on Saturday he improved on that for the third time this season and finished in an excellent 21.54. Start Kerton (Chippenham Wheelers) recorded a 21.45 with Don Tanner (RAFCA) 23.24.

On Thursday, Charles Rees, John Holman, Paul Hopkins, Andy Parsons, Will Edwards and Mike Smith travelled down to Moreton to race in TLI’s evening road race.  Paul Hopkins followed up his recent win in this series with third place and Charles Rees at the back of the group. Mike Smith, Andy Parsons finished in the chasing group with Will Edwards, all dropped between the final bend and the finish in the last km. John Holman rolled in with the chasing bunch.
