Kim Little was the dominant rider at the opening round of the GDW winter mountain bike series.  Kim led throughout to beat Andy Parsons by just over a minute by the end of the ‘one hour plus a lap’ race.  Anyd had a first lap stop caused by losing his light by had moved his way back into second place by the start of the second lap.

Vince Hounsome, Charles Rees and James Chant were locked together early on but by the end Vince was clear in third, with Charles in fourth.  James retired on lap two with a puncture, joining Simon Barfoot and Justin French who both broke chains early on.
Newcomer Sam Willis did well for fifth ahead of Richard Higgs, Liam Teesdale was first junior while Kian Calloway got two laps in to win the Youth category.
Big thanks go to Vince for organising, Debbie, James, Toby and Oliver for doing the signs and to Mike and Chris for timing.
Elsewhere, Kim Little put in a good ride to get 12th at the recent Wessex cyclocross round at Wareham Forest.  Kim was the only mountain bike rider and did well against some top opposition.
This coming Sunday (21st) is the final round of the WTTA Hardrider time trial series which culminates in its traditional hillclimb at Burrington Coombe near Cheddar.  James Chant and Simon Rouse are representing the Wheelers amongst a strong entry of 72 riders, including no less than 28 riders form the home club.  This is always a good event with a good crowd turning out to spectate so ride over and give the riders a cheer.  First rider is off at 1001.
The first of the mountain bike races at Inside Park near Blandford (DT11 9AD) also takes place this Sunday.  Entry costs £8 with the race starting at 1000.  See the calendar page for the listing of the rest of the series.
