Wednesdays need to be renamed Winday – yes, another howling gale blew for round 8, the seventh very windy Wednesday of the last eight! Ten brave (or foolhardy) souls signed on for two laps of the Stour Provost course.
Shawn Gray (48:13) maintained his perfect record, using the tailwind sections to bag a couple of Strava KoMs on the way. He came home ahead of Sam Thompson (51:10) and was quickest by almost 3 minutes. Vince Hounsome (56:45) clearly had extra Shredded Wheat for breakfast, posting his best result of the season to come third, with Nigel Brown (57:20) fourth, and fastest on a road bike. Jilly Wallace was fastest woman.
Well done to everyone who braved such difficult conditions, and particular thanks to our volunteers who had to wait in the cold and the wind for this longer event to run its course.
Round (10th June) returns to Stour Provost, but for just one lap of the 10 mile course. Sign on is at 6.30 pm (at Stour Provost Community School, Woodville, Gillingham SP8 5LX) with the first rider off at 7.00 pm.
