Simon Rouse managed to knock a huge chunk of time from his previous 10 mile p.b. at the Bath CC Open on Saturday, held on the U47 course near Cirencester.  Sporting his new aero helmet and Wheelers skinsuit, Simon completed his ride in 22.10.  Despite this excellent time, his finishing position was ‘only’ 48th.  Don Tanner came home 89th with a time of 24.11.  Conditions were obviously very good for this event as a number of other riders also recorded p.b.s and the top six were all in the ’19s’.
Simon also took part in the latest Hardrider tt this weekend, and was joined by James Chant.  This was the infamous Dursley RC 29 mile tt in the South Cotswolds, known as the ‘hardest of the Hardriders’.  The competitors had to tackle five serious hills, including an extra climb to the finish that was added into the course for this year.  Simon started one minute behind James and caught him at around twenty miles.  James re-passed Simon on Selsley Hill but once back ahead Simon pulled away to complete the course in 1.36.27 (19th position).  James finished in 1.39.11 (25th), grateful for the grass bank that kept him upright during his out of control descent of Froucester Hill.
At the Bournemouth DWCA Open 25 mile tt, Vince Hounsome was agonisingly close to getting under the hour, just missing out with a 1.00.02
