Thanks to all those who turned out tonight to help with the timekeeping and marshalling in the absence of Mary and Dennis.  Mary has had her broken ankle pinned now and should be home next week.

32 riders turned out for the non-aero rules night, a fast opening stretch was followed by a hard middle section against the wind with the final push for home helped by a tailwind.  Paul Hopkins won with a very fast 23.31, a result which means that Paul clinches the overall tt series this season.  Well done!
Josh Day set a quick time of 25.08 to win the junior category, Ollie Feltham taking second place and moving up to second in the championship as well.  Rowan Birch finished with 32.57 in his first tt.
There were several guest riders tonight, Darren Bunce was the quickest of them with 25.06 while Dave Fuller was the fastest of the Westbury Wheeler riders present ahead of Simon Hurd and junior rider Fergus Hurd.

Last weekend saw the annual running of the Bournemouth and District Women’s CA 2-up time trial on a 10 mile course at Ringwood.  This event is for male/female pairings with the Wheelers represented this year by James Chant and Sarah Roberts.  They were pleased to beat their pre-event target of getting under half an hour, finishing 16th with 29.23.  The winners were Nicky and Marc Barfoot (UTAG-Yamaha) with 25.42.
The Merthyr RC 25 mile tt saw a huge number of pb rides amongst the capacity field.  Don Tanner travelled over to Mid-Wales to finish with a good time of 1.02.23.  Wendy Houvanaghel and Julia Shaw both broke the national women’s record for this distance, Julia Shaw (Drag2Zero) fastest with 50.01 while Henry Latimer (Team Zappi’s) headed some very fast juniors with 51.28.  Michael Hutchinson (In Gear-Quickvit) won overall with 46.41.
At the final race of the Army CU Summer Series at Ludgershall, Josh Day raced really well in a fast-paced 3rd/4th Cat race held in very wet and slippy conditions and won one of the mid-race sprint primes
