Friday evening’s rain should clear overnight leaving a chilly but bright Saturday with a north westerly. As riders ease out of their winter hibernations, or away from their pain caves, the Blue and Pink routes this week are identical.
The Pink Blue route initially heads to Wincanton and then on to Sherborne, Bradford Abbas and Yetminster (hoefully without the need for canoes). The return is through Glanvilles Wootton, Kings Stag and Marnhull, allowing refreshments to be taken at Spire Hill if needed.
The White route also heads to Wincanton and on to Sherborne, then taking a more direct route to Kings Stag through Alweston and Caundle Marsh, where it rejoins the other route.
Whilst this week remains a 9.30 am meet up, next week, being March, we return to the 9.00 am meet up time.
Meet at 9.30 am at the Wheels car park, Station Road, Gillingham. Please ensure you download your chosen route to your GPS device, and remember to bring your ride essentials, particularly sufficient liquid refreshments.
There is nothing to stop a group splitting into a ‘light’ and a ‘dark’ group, and a slower group can take on a longer route or a faster group ride a shorter route. All rides are no drop rides but please select a group suited to your ability!
Pink Blue Route: 78.9 kms, 818 m elevation – Pinks – est speed 28 kmh+ / 17.5 mph +, Blues – est speed 24 kmh / 15 mph
White Route: 64.7 kms, 716 m elevation – est speed 20 kmh / 12 mph
