The hotter weather predicted earlier in the week doesn’t look like materialising, but unlike most of this June, Saturday does look to be dry and sunny! With the wind forecast to be from the west north west, all three routes head south west from Gillingham this week.
The routes head through Stalbridge, Stourton Caundle and onto Bishops Down and Holnest. The White route then heads to Lyons Gate, returning through Glanvilles Wootton, Kings Stag and Marnhull.
The Blue route continues to Yetminster and Holywell before rejoining the White route at Lyons Gate. Rumours are that they will need to refresh at Whispering Chimneys (or they could hang on in and stop at Spire Hill).
Meanwhile the Pink route continues to Evershot, then south to Cattistock and Maiden Newton before turning to climb over to Cerne Abbas before joining the other routes at the top of Lyons Gate on the way home.
Its a 9.00 am start, meet at the Wheels car park, Station Road, Gillingham. Please ensure you download your chosen route to your GPS device, and remember to bring your ride essentials, particularly sufficient liquid refreshments.
There is nothing to stop a group splitting into a ‘light’ and a ‘dark’ group, and a slower group can take on a longer route or a faster group ride a shorter route. All rides are no drop rides but please select a group suited to your ability!
