In addition to the TLI organised Sandie Radford memorial road race on Sat 20th mentioned by James in an earlier post, there are also road races this weekend on Sunday 21st at Bishops Sutton, nr Chew Valley Lake and at Merryfield Airfield, Ilton.
Mike Smith, Pete Humphreys and Charles Rees are racing in the 3/4 Cat race at Bishops Sutton over 55 miles on a 7 mile circuit in a full field of 80 riders, details here
James Foster and Barney Cox are heading to Merryfield Airfield, Ilton for the Somerset Road Club organised circuit road races where there are races for youths, 4th Cat (anyone senior who hasn’t raced before is 4th Category), 3rd Cat and E/1/2. Entries are taken on the day only and there are usually no limit to the numbers of entries.
The Youth events start from 10:00, 4th Cat & Ladies from 11:00, 3rd Cat and E/1/2 from 12:15. See British Cycling site here for more info
Anyone who hasn’t raced before Ilton is an ideal event to start as its in a safe controlled environment round the 3 mile perimeter of the airfield.
