Good Friday saw club members competing in the Easter Classic at Castle Coombe. A prestigious event attended by all age groups and abilities.

In the Youth racing Nathaniel Brookes ‘rolled the dice’ and gambled on going for a long one in the closing laps. He was caught but hung on for 8th place. Daisy Davis put on a good show in the youth girls race and finished in the bunch. It’s worth noting both riders are the younger year of their racing age category and are doing incredibly well to be competitive so early.

In the 3rd Category race, GDW had a good showing. Charles Rees was away for a lap before being caught in the grizzly head wind through the start/finish. It all came back together for the closing laps, and everything was thrown at leading out Jack Whitehouse for the sprint. Adrian Riddleston and Jack finished just outside the top 10 in a dramatic sprint the saw touches of wheels but no crashes.

In the E12 race Tristram More-Molyneux was the sole representative. He road a strong race to finish in the bunch after 45 miles in around 90mins of racing.

The riders send there thanks to all the club members who came out to support the racing. The next outing is Round 1 of the GDW Henstridge Race Series on the 25th of April.

Shaun Gray was unlucky in the Bournemouth Arrow Good Friday 10 Time Trial. He got stuck behind a tractor on the narrow p311 course, but still posted an impressive 23.02 for 27th place.

Easter Sunday saw James Hywel-Davies and Charles Rees competing in the Cc Weymouth Easter 10 TT on the rolling p451 between Broadmayne and Wool. A tail wind and shallow decent on the outward leg made for a horrendous return up the drag into the head wind. Charles was home first in 22.29 for 9th place and James finished 19th in 23.02.

Tuesday saw the opening round of Behind the Bike Sheds Thruxton Summer Series. Adrian Riddleston, Charles Rees and Jack Whitehouse all raced the 3rd cat event. Some good team work saw Charles get away in a hard working break, only to be caught with a lap to go despite Jack and Adrian’s best efforts to slow the chase. It came down to a bunch finish up the climb with Adrian placing 21st after getting squeezed off the track on the last hairpin.

Tristram had better luck in the E12 and managed 9th from the bunch kick after missing the break.
