Charles Rees wins !!! – Charles powered up the hill at the end of the last lap to win by half a wheel in the 4th Cat race.

Bright sunny conditions with a stiff breeze welcomed 6 Gillingham Wheelers on the 4th category 25 mile race at Thruxton.  Bad luck for Will on the first lap as he had a collision and fell off and suffered cuts/bruises and some damage to his bike, Nigel went off for a long warm up and missed the start.  Charles’ master plan was to have a push to the front with 5 laps remaining and try to establish a breakaway going up the hill. With 3 to go he made his move, reaching the Andover Wheeler. They stayed away, and Charles narrowly held off the bunch for a win. Great team work from James Chant who did his best to disrupt attacks and moves by the field to chase the escape’s… and a promising start to the season for Mike Smith who will be joined by Charles, Nigel (start at 10.45) and Vince for the spectacle that is the Pittards Trophy Race.

Charles Rees – 1st
James Chant – 15th
Mike Smith – 36th
Chris Mullett 60th

Nigel Eades – lapped
Will Edwards- an unlucky DNF
