The final round of the Southern XC mountain bike series took place at the weekend, at Pippingford Park, near Crawley.  The course was dry and dusty for practice but heavy rain soon put an end to that.  Paul Hopkins got his best result of the season in the Elite race, getting fifth place in a race which lasted more than two hours.  Nigel Brown was 9th in the Vets race, with Andy Parsons non-finishing after a mid-race puncture, while Josh Day was 8th in the Juniors’ race.
Kim Little eventually finished 8th in the Masters race, but this included a stop to repair a puncture whilst lying in fourth place.  In the Elite women’s race, Emma Bradley came third in her first race back after crashing and getting injured at the Nationals in August.  Unfortunately, Emma crashed again in this race on a slippery descent and now has another injury to fix!
