Fairly spring-like conditions were
the order of the day for the eight Wheelers taking part in the recent
Frome & District Wheelers 10 mile Open TT on the revised U369
course between Maiden Bradley and the Frome-by-Pass. This year, the
start and finish points have been switched, thus negating that horrible
slightly uphill bit through the trees to the chequerboard. This has
made for a quicker course as evidenced by the times set, although there
was still a strong crosswindv to contend with, so it wasn’t all ‘plain
sailing’ to say the least!  The Solo competition saw a high-quality,
bigger than usual entry, with our Simon Barfoot doing well to clock a
time of 23.55 for 13th position.  Other placings times were; 33rd Don
Tanner – 26.22, 37th Grahame Reed – 26.39, 48th John Phillips – 28.57,
49th Chris Mullett – 29.04, 51st Sarah Roberts – 31.58, 55th Maria
Phillips – 35.33.  Spare a thought for poor Sarah Wheeler, who had a
painful crash en-route to the start and scrated her nice new bike and
sustained a few minor injuries – get better soon Sarah – it’s early
days yet!!!
