Based on the Government’s latest advice and guidance on the developing situation around Coronavirus/COVID19, you may be aware that British Cycling, in line with most other sporting governing bodies in the UK, has suspended all of its sanctioned events.

The Club Committee have discussed the situation and have taken the difficult decision to suspend all Gillingham Wheelers organised club activities for the foreseeable future with immediate effect.  This includes all group rides and at this stage it is highly unlikely the opening rounds of the Club Time Trial Series will take place (the first round having being due on 1st April).

Whilst social cycling isn’t banned in the UK (yet, unlike in Italy & Spain), we hope members will continue to ride their bikes in a way which promotes social responsibility and attracts the least likelihood of complaint from concerned members of the public.

If you think you may end up organising your own small groups to ride together, we would ask that you do not wear GDW club kit on those occasions. If you are riding solo or in pairs, then feel free to wear the club kit.

These steps will of course be subject to constant review and we will maintain contact with Club members on a regular basis.

Stay safe!
