Round two of the GDW mountain bike series was back up at Alfred’s Tower woods after the club’s first round tt at Search Farm near Mere.  The 23 starters had a fairly short course to tackle, but it was a tough one with some very muddy sections, plenty of slippy roots, two fallen trees to get over and a hard climb every lap.

The venue may have changed but the result was the same, with Kim Little the class of the field.  Chris Noble and Nigel Brown made Kim work for it early on in the race but eventually Kim got clear and lapped most of the field by the finish.  Nigel took second from Chris with Ryan Mckee riding well and mixing it with them both but he had to settle for fourth in the end.

Nathan Collins had a steady start on his singlespeed bike but did well to work his way through to fifth, with Liam Teesdale sixth while Scawen Roberts finished in seventh after an early stop and a crash.
Of the other GDW riders, James Chant had some bike problems but came home in ninth, Adam Baker was 12th and James Howell was 17th.
Team Broom had an expensive morning, with Jim crashing on lap one and breaking bits off of his bike and nearly himself.  Jim was able to continue and was seen showing off some impressive injuries afterwards.  Meanwhile, Lynn snapped a chain late on in the race but made it to the end and was classified in 22nd place.
