Saturday looks like it may be dry and sunny, though a chilly start and possibly damp roads. This week all 3 routes initially head south towards Blandford via Todber, Child Okeford and Bryanston. The White route then heads over to Stickland and up and over Okeford Beacon. As Hammoon is probably only passable by canoe, the route takes the back road to Sturminster and heads home through Marnhull.
The Blue and Pink routes can hopefully still nip under the blandford bypass bridge on the way to Langton Long (otherwise there is a gateway to the Blandford bypass). The Pinks carry on to Sturminster Marshall and Bloxworth returning through Winterbourne Kingston, Stickland and over Okeford Beacon.
The Blue route crosses the A350 at Spetisbury and have a stretch on the A31 (sorry!) to Alner where they merge again with the Pink route.
Meet at 9.30 am at the Wheels car park, Station Road, Gillingham. Please ensure you download your chosen route to your GPS device, and remember to bring your ride essentials, particularly sufficient liquid refreshments.
There is nothing to stop a group splitting into a ‘light’ and a ‘dark’ group, and a slower group can take on a longer route or a faster group ride a shorter route. All rides are no drop rides but please select a group suited to your ability!
Pink Route: 96.8 kms, 955 m elevation – est speed 28 kmh+ / 17.5 mph +
Blue Route: 85.4 kms, 831 m elevation – est speed 24 kmh / 15 mph
White Route: 61.4 kms, 713 m elevation – est speed 20 kmh / 12 mph
Also a heads up that Vince’s Annual Swanage Ride is planned for Saturday 27th December (reserve date Sunday 28th), but there will also be a route that goes as far as Corfe Castle for those unable (or unwilling) to do the full route!
