All three routes make their way to Sixpenny Handley, where the White route then heads north-east to Broadchalke, returning long the Chalke valley through Berwick St John and then onto Wiltshire’s finest roads in the Donheads.
The Blue and Pink routes continue to Wimborne St Giles, Cranborne and Alderholt where they split. After a proposed coffee stop at Wolverton, the Blues head for home via Damerham, Martin and Bowerchalke, where they join the White route. The Pink route goes to Ibsley, Frogham and Fordingbridge before rejoining the Blues at Ashford.
And don’t forget, Sunday morning is the John Holman Road Race, starting at 10.00 am and lasting about 2 hours – do come along and support!
Meet at 9.00 am at the Wheels car park, Station Road, Gillingham. Please ensure you download your chosen route to your GPS device, and remember to bring your ride essentials, particularly sufficient liquid refreshement.
The routes all finish at The Old Brewery Cafe in Gillingham where you can stop for coffee, cake or lunch.
There is nothing to stop a group splitting into a ‘light’ and a ‘dark’ group, and a slower group can take on a longer route or a faster group ride a shorter route. All rides are no drop rides but please select a group suited to your ability!
Pink Route: 106.2 kms, 1,124 m elevation – est speed 28 kmh+ / 17.5 mph +
Blue Route: 93.5 kms, 1,021 m elevation – est speed 24 kmh / 15 mph
White Route: 73.3 kms, 835 m elevation – est speed 20 kmh / 12 mph
