TT Round Two

posted 15 Apr 2010, 10:14 by James Chant
There were lots of improved times at the second tt of the season, thanks to a tailwind from Mere to Bourton helping everyone along.  Julian Chown took full advantage of this to record a course best time and take the overall win, almost two years since the last time that he won.  His time of 24.13 left him just twelve seconds ahead of Wessex Wizard triathlete James Oliver with Vince Hounsome third with a time of 24.52.  Further down the finishing order, Mike Smith knocked just over two minutes from his time from last week, Charles Daka improved by nearly two minutes while Richard Hansford and Thibaut Lambert were both quicker than last week by more than a minute.  Meanwhile, Daryol Laws set a new course record for a tricycle - unless there's a sudden and unexpected resurgence in tricycle racing there's a fair chance Daryol will hold this record for quite a while!
The top three women riders were the same as week one with Liz Hutson winning from Jane Pritchard and Emma Bradley, while Jenny Lucas and tt debutant Julia Hillier were tied for fourth.  Despite some confusion with the course route, Ashley Martin was the fastest junior with a time of 27.21 ahead of Maria Phillips.
Times, etc are here.
