Gillingham TT and other results

posted 13 Jul 2014, 11:01 by James Chant
Charles Rees set the fastest time on a tough night on the Gillingham course, with the wind against the riders for the first six miles.  Charles was over two minutes ahead of second placed Stuart Kerton with Vince Hounsome in third.  Adam Baker and Alex Hookins set good times for fourth and fifth while Chris Gray headed a group of five closely matched riders to take sixth.

Jane Pritchard beat Sarah Wheeler and Jenny Lucas in the ladies' competition and Rowan Birch was the quickest of the juniors.  Of the other juniors, Maddie Howden made a big improvement over her previous tt appearance while debutant Harry Charles took a wrong turn but made it to the finish eventually.

We will be short staffed on the timekeepers and marshalling next week's Bruton tt, please come along and help out if you can

Elsewhere, Sarah Wheeler and James Chant headed down to the Poole bypass for the Poole Wheelers 10 mile tt.  A blustery headwind outward leg followed by a helpful tailwind on the return led to both setting good times, with Sarah finishing on 27.14 and James on 23.36.

The GDW Youth Academy have been racking up the BC points lately.  James Hywel-Davies got in the race-winning move at Odd Down last week.  The break eventually reduced to two riders with James missing out on the win but getting second place behind Ride24/7 junior Josh Price.  James Geddes put in a good ride to get the win in the U14s race the same night.  The previous week at Odd Down, James picked up a third.  In the U12s event Toby Easby made a late breakaway for the win but was caught on the last lap but managed to grab second in the sprint.

At the Team Tor Ilton races, Maddie Howden was the first U16 girl home in her event and Finn Little did well to get second in the U10s' race.

Of the seniors, Tristram More-Molyneux has been continuing to get some good results with a fourth at Odd Down in the combined 3/4 cat race and then took second at Ilton in the 3rd cat race there.  James Foster picked up his BC points at Ilton, finishing in ninth in the 4th cat event.
