End of Season Awards Night - This Saturday (24th November)!

Celebrate the achievements and endeavours of the Gillingham Wheelers in 2018. Along with the presentation of the Club Awards & Trophies there will be liquid refreshment at the bar and skittles too!
Time: 7.00 pm
Place: The Coronation Club, Buckingham Road, Gillingham

The Merit Cup is awarded to a club member who has done an exceptional event during the current year. Previously this has been voted for at the end of season dinner, but due to the change of format this year, voting is open to all members, with a closing date of Friday 23rd November.

The following members have been nominated for this prestigious award in 2018:-

Ollie Peach-Bown - in May Ollie completed the hilly 102 km Jurassic Beast sportive in 5 1/2 hours with just one ice cream stop! Ollie was just 10 at the time.

Finn Little - in July Finn rode the full (14 km, 1,100 m elevation gain @ 8.1%) Alpe d’Huez climb in 83 mins 43 secs, one of the top 5 times by a Wheeler, and his time to the Tourist Office is the 6th fastest by a Wheeler. Finn had just turned 14.

Andrew 'Windy' Gale - In July, Windy rode 9 stages of the Tour de France (Stages 10-18, including all the Alpine & Pyrenean stages) one week before the Tour. He then rode Prudential Ride London one week later!

James Miura - Over the summer James went to the Dolomites where he conquered the famous Stelvio pass (the second highest paved road in Europe, 2757 m peak, 24.3 kms @ 7.8%) , and the Gavia climb (2621 m peak, 17.9 kms @ 7.9%).

Simon Barfoot - Earlier in the year Simon rode unsupported through the Baltic states covering 6 countries, over 2,100 km / 1,300 miles. His longest day was 274 km / 171 miles.
